"I'm pretty new around here so im think i should Start by giving you a bit of background knowledge on what im trying to acomplish here. I'm currently working on a funtage/mixtage called "Red.ck Tage II"/"Tage 2" it is a sequel to a montage I made a few years ago that included game play from CS (1.6)/Halo 2m (I'm currently in the process of putting this on YouTube, but I have to cut it in half first :P, will edit this bit and insert a link when its done).
When I made it I'd only seen 3/4 montages. 2 of shook on3's, one of Walshy's and one of KiWi's, I decided I'd make one for a laugh, mainly to test out editing programs and see if I could edit. When it was made it went down a storm with my friends, but never got any exposure outside of my group, and I doubt many people outside my friends group would really get a lot of the jokes.
Not too long after I decided to make the sequel that I'm currently working on, but due to many instances of bad luck and circumstance it still hasn't been finished (graphics card breaking, halo 3 coming out, going to uni, whole computer format, completely new computer, etc). When I started I was still playing h2 and I don't even think the h3 MP beta had been announced. The original plan was to have it be just me again and probably 2 other guys; I didn't own a capture card (I had been using a DVD recorder) but a friend did. Then the beta came out and we saw how easy it was to record games and swap files. This gave us a bit of hope, we'd have to postpone the tage for about a year but it'd be worth it as it meant that more people could get a section and we could incorporate more members of the clan (A.E.N. Outrunners).
After a long, long time, and while I was nearing the end of my 2nd year of uni, we decided to finally capture the clips. We used a a lower number dazzle and captured everyone clips (think we went through about 500 odd clips + some diff angles). After that I made the first trailer, I was getting used to using after effects during this time and used a couple of VC tutorials, but I think I incorporated them quite well and added my own personal touch(Link for those interested in getting an idea what the funtage is about). When I was finished editing I knew I wasn't happy with the quality of the clips. The Dazzle just didn't do them justice at all, they were interlaced and the gamma and contrast were completely off some of the clips i deamed unusable. After much thought and research (could have saved myself by coming on here) I decided I'd get a HD-PVR as it was the simplest option imo. We haven't re-capped all the clips yet, but that should start as of tomorrow (11/09/09), and hopefully should only take about 2 weeks. This is where we are now. When "Red.ck Tage II"/"Tage 2" is FINALLY released (like seriously it's been 3+ years or something), I am going to cut the H3 section out, possibly re-edit it based on comments from friends, take out the more ridiculous/pointless/humorous elements and add credits to it, after I have done all this I will release it as a separate montage called "Outrunners : A Force To Be Reckoned With". It say's on the poster and in the Trailer 2009, but im slightley skeptical and don't think it''l come out until 2010, also the poster has the wrong clan logo on it, the crosshair should burn into the logo more, wil change asap, true logo is in trailer for a second. I'm also hopefully going to enter this into the H3F Movie Competition 2."

ENJOY!!
I feel like the editing is from a professional, but the gameplay is from his 8 year old son.
