I really hate to show a bit of anger, but a hug is the biggest basis some people have for KeiichiXRena? (minus Rena confessing in Rei, but that's OVA and doesn't count)

I'm a guy. I've given and received hugs it's mostly with friends. Of all the people my age I've hugged, there have only been 2 romantic relationships there (both ended). A hug won't make relationships. When I hug my friends, I do it to show that I'm always there to help

I don't hug them because I love them.

I heard the author(s?) intention was for Mion to be Keiichi's love interest (thus the death scene in kai where Mion; he told her he loved her if you read his lips...) but Rena and Kiechi people got angry so they put a romantic scene between them in Rei to make them happy. though to me it seemed like the relationship between Mion and Keiichi was more awkward and romantic then his relationship with Rena...
