  • better than nick cave

  • triffids > doors

  • @johnnysako07

I do think you are a friendly type though, does that count?Best wishes for 2011!

  • No.

  • @hildaatje For your information, hildaatje, ScottAln05 said this song reminded him "remotely" of "People Are Strange" by the Doors. His opinion is just as valid as yours or mine. By bringing up Ira Robbins quote, I wasn't trying to say you were wrong. All I was trying to do is explain how someone drew a connection between the Triffids and the Doors years ago. I never said I agreed with Robbins. However, the beginning of this song does have a Ray Manzarek touch to it, don't you think?

  • @johnnysako07

Took you a while to dig that up!(lol)

And since when does a critics point of view make do a fact?I am a critic in my own right and I still don,t agree.......sorry.

    Is MY opinion!

But that beautiful deep melodic voice.....David;Nothing can take your place.

Thanx for the tip on the book, will definately check it out.

  • @hildaatje For your information, in the fourth edition of the Trouser Press (1991), Ira Robbins states, "Singer/songwriter David McComb's voice bears similarity to both [Tom] Verlaine [of Television] and Jim Morrison." I'd love to take credit for saying this originally but I can't. By the way, if your looking for a good book covering alternative music from 70's-90's, check out the Trouser Press Record Guide.

  • Huh?

Who said that? They sound nothing alike!

Never heard that before. You just made it up to make a point right?

    You silly you.....

I do understand the comment by Scott, even if I had never thought of it before. There is a certain parallel, mainly due to the piano.

And I also prefer David any time of the day/week/month.

    P.S.;year......

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • Now, now, let's not hate. Many critics from the '80's did compare David's vocals to the late Jim Morrison.
