That' s my Arch Linux system!
I tried to build it up minimal and aesthetically coherent.
Here it is my basic suite of programs:

WM : Openbox
Compositor: xcompmgr
Panel: Bmpanel
Terminal: xfce4-terminal
Editor: nano
File Manager: Thunar
Browser: Google Chrome

  • Awesome! If I could get this theme for myself is there anyway to make the transparency of the panel/taskbar (bottom part of the screen) and the Click Menu more transparent?

  • @Ograws The bmpanel themes are simple modular .png images following a particular naming scheme and being organized through a "theme" file. You can freely edit those .png modules as you wish, that is, you can really make your own theme, with your hands, using an image editor such as GIMP

  • Awesome desktop you have. I wonder what's the screencasting software you used?

  • @zealot008 Thank you so much! I've used Xvidcap

  • Damn i ve allways wanted to know enough to install arch linux... well i did that but i never got past the "installing GUI"... TOO BAD :(

  • @71GA You're never too late! Practice on other user-friendly distro, and read carefully the Beginner's Guide, I guarantee you'll install it without problems!

  • Do you remember what theme you are using in this video? I really want to build a desktop like you did. It's beautifully elegant. The same is true with the wallpaper. What I really like is all the rounded rectangles.

  • @PunkJediEwok It's from the Youtube AudioSwap collection, I cannot really remember the name, I' m sorry.

  • What music is this? It's really nice.

  • @hheintze1 Now it's something like 90 megabyte at the startup, with Terminal running and some daemon... It's a lot, but this configuration uses a default generic kernel, it keeps several services running, Terminal (which isn't that lightweight) and so on... On my EEE pc 901, with a custom compiled kernel, compiled packages with optimized compilation flags, only the essential daemons and no composite I reached something like 32 megabyte at the startup, with the possibility of further improvements
