Geological features on Mars + UFO sighting as documented by NASA. Atmosphere on Mars is thin and causes extreme temperature changes from night to day. It is also a very dry and cold place with carbon dioxide composing much of its atmosphere. Large craters, canyons and volcano's are scattered about this Martian terrain. Including vast sand dunes where dust devils flourish and where large dust storms obscure the sky for thousands of miles!

Spirit and Opportunity rovers from NASA took most of the images. Some are from the orbiter spacecraft.

  • PS, don't miss the first total lunar eclipse in two years! It will grace the sky the night of Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 (natures Christmas present).

  • chances that spirit will wake up is getting lower and lower

    RIP spirit

  • @fumfulapenguin Sometimes extreme dust storms on Mars disable communication systems, however, it did go above and beyond its expected functional period.... yes, RIP.

  • I was just curious . Mars seemed to have water a long time ago as seeing the enormous channels and valleys . What happened to all the surface water. I did notice polar ice caps ,Maybe all the H20 at those areas?

  • @ssl668 There is ongoing data collection/analysis generated each day from Mars by NASA's satellites or land rovers. A wealth of information can be obtained on their website.

Today, Mars thin atmosphere combined with extreme day/night temperatures doesn't provide ideal conditions for liquid water formation. I'm sure there are other factors as well.

Collisions between galaxies are a fairly common occurrence in the universe. Our Milky Way galaxy will crash into the Andromeda galaxy in a few billion years. Galaxies tangle together, kicking gas and dust all around. Often the battered galaxies are left with tails of material stripped off during the violence.

  • if i'm not mistaken, Mars died when its core stopped spinning and therefore the planet lost its magnetic field, causing the solar winds to blow away the atmosphere and surface water. very very tragic : (

  • omg theres a football stadium in a crater on mars!?

  • wthh theres air on marss?? some one explaint oo me how a dust devil is spinning????? blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im cornfusedd

  • Spirit and Opportunity was a great success story for NASA and the US. I've enjoyed their lives on Mars and all the great science that was done.
