why can't these poachers be stopped? It is really sad that these Gentle Giants can not be free to roam . It is pathetic that people have to kill Animals for their Tusks and etc.. All POACHERS need to be shot and have their heads hanging on the Animal TROPHY walls.... :-) ANIMAL RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These gentle giants are to be left free to roam the jungles of India. But if left free, the male elephants will be ruthlessly killed by poachers. As it is the male/female equation in the wild is not proper to make the reproduction process to be stable. All the male elephants are either killed or taken into captivity. This greatly reduce the gene pool and the reproduction is highly affected.
@CharlieDoan there is no such species as "Indian Elephant" Its the Asian Elephant. The other species is African Elephant which is larger than its Asian Counterpart. Also there is another species of Elephant seen in Congo and Central African Rain forests which are a kinda pygmy variety. Smaller than all with its tucks pointing down.
This videos is taken from A Famous Elephant Santuary situated in Guruvayur,Thrissur District, Kerala - (A south Indian state). Around 65 elephants are there. All of them are recieved as offerings from Hindu devotees to the famous Guruvayur Temple. These elephants are not sent for any work. They are strictly reserved for Temple related festivals. But the infrastructures are very poor despite of large Cash reserves are available for. And mahouts are not trained professionlly and very cruel.

also indian elephents can be trained even when the animal is quite grown up can remember around 80 commands ,but this is not posoble with african elephents then can also be trained but when the are very very young
Thanks for saying that. Because, people simply choose not to be aware of such concepts. These elephants are bonded labourers. It's a sad life for them.

Hope you're really wealthy then. Elephants are surprisingly expensive to feed. They'll eat hundreds of kilos of fruits and stuff every day.
