Why the fuck do I have to go trough all this?? I just have to put a movie on my dad's iPad and I have do to all of this? Time waste at it's finest! When I want to put a movie on my android tablet I just plug it in to the pc lick mass storage and put the avi I downloaded on it's sd card and I'm done. No compressing or any of this shit.

The second compression made my film squashed. Just once compressing the way he says worked for me

just tried it with another video and it went from 1.36gb to 4.2g....what the heck?

CONFUSED: I did all your steps to the T for Tron Legacy HD and it actually made my file larger...? from 3.15gb to 4.5gb

Better to choose Other in the Frame Size and change it to 1024 by 576 then the iPad doesn't have to do any downscaling when playing the video.
That is the size if you are starting with 1280 by 720
