Bone stock 4-door '07+ Wrangler Rubicon scaling a 6 ft dirt wall where the road bed had sunk over the years. This is the wife's daily driver and they had their dog in the back cargo area with their two kids in booster seats in the rear passenger seat. The mother let the father drive the rig up the wall. What impressed me about this is how well composed the vehicle his given it's stock ride high and it's low breakover angle. I'd have though it would have struggled a bit more. A little rubbing on the factory rocker guard rails and that was it.

  • I'm not sure where you go offroading but here in the NW we have some very tight trails that weave through the trees. It gets to the point where even a TJ has to be careful threading it's way around. To then consider a JK that is 5" wider and an Unlimited with an extra 20"+ longer wheel base, coupled with a worse break-over angle. It could be an issue for NW trail. It's different wheel'n conditions up here than the rest of the country. Besides, the JKUs are rarely seen on trails up here.

  • Tell me about it. I had been very leary about the new JKs, especially the Ulimiteds with their longer wheelbase but this rig seemed to do ok.

  • Ps... Yes, I live here in the NW too. A JK rubi comes with 32.9" wheels from the factory. My old TJ had 24" donuts on 14" rims! Lolz

  • Dear counters, most JK owners are former TJ & YJ owners. We now have kids and a bit more money. The JK is fantastically capable, much more than any previous wrangler. I don't know why anyone would think otherwise (perhaps they haven't owned them to form a legitimate opinion?)

  • @lupinsea why would you be leery of the longer wheelbase? The JKU's are far more capable offroad than the 2 doors, in every aspect except breakover angle. Most serious wheelers are going with the 4-door. Check out Project-JK vids. On their trips they are almost all JKU's

  • pretty impressive for being stock!
