The tiny white specks you see on the glass are actually called planaria worms and are caused by overfeeding. This is why it is important to not feed your fish more than twice a day and only what they can eat in a few minutes. You MUST remove any uneaten food. These worms are relatively harmless unless they become an infestation like shown here. Fish may show some slight scratching, but regular water changes with gravel siphoning is important to keep them from becoming a problem.

no fish were harmed here. They were removed prior to me stopping my tank maintenance.

  • ive got them and im not feeding fish in my tank because i have none. i only fertilise my plants

  • @Verse9Ether I'm not sure, I've never had planted tanks. I got my information from forums. Try searching in a planted tank forum, they might be able to help you better.

  • I had these lil shits in my tank too, but smaller, threadlike, free floating in my tank water. Tried to get rid of them with no success, man. Just said the hell with it and got rid of everything and started a new tank. Once this shit starts in your tank, it's game over.

  • if you have shrimps in there and snails, i would not use copper.. they would die, too

    this with sand is though when you clean the tank the sand goes out and you put fresh stuff in
