  • tim i followed all the directions and as soon as i turn my 360 on i get the 2 red lights please help

  • If you have gotten the 2 red lights then try tightening the screws a little tighter and if that don't work the is a trick I use which is to put a cd in the ridge of the short heat sink so it blocks the big one, and heat up the small heat sink using a hair dryer on high for 15 min after 15 min is up remove the cd and heat both heatsinks up for 2 min. after that let it cool, tighten the screws as tight as they can go without stripping them and re-test.

  • tim does the falcon chip (manufactured march 2008) still get the 3 red rings?

  • Yep It sure does. I actually just fixed one last night.

  • what do the nylon washers do exactly and does it really matter what size? because i did the fix like 20 times and still no hope.

  • Size really does matter because you don't want the cpu and or gpu to far from the heatsink. The Nylon washers are critical so that you do not short out your Circut board by it grounding out.

  • i kno how u feel bout kids in the back. they wont leave me alone sometimes. lol. but i love them.

  • Well, its hard to explain the type of my heat sink. Thanks anyway

  • ... by 2 washers on each side of the circuit board I actually meant 2 per bolt, 1 on each side of the circuit board. It's too early for maths!

  • Both x-clamps are un-usable when you take them off. You'll need 8 nuts, 8 bolts and 8 or 16 washers (depending on the length of the bolts). I used 16 so that I had 2 washers on each side of the circuit board per bolt. Tim Ehrhart's videos show how to replace the x-clamps with nuts and bolts. It's easy, you just need to make sure that the bolts fit the holes on both of the heatsinks before you try and put it back together.

  • You can't. You'd need to buy nuts and bolts and some plastic/nylon washers to replace the x-clamps completely. Take one of the x-clamp screws to a hardware store for a size guide.
