Gigabyte launches Booktop M1022M 10.1 Mobile Notebook

Brand-new creative Gigabyte all-in-one concept combines convenience of notebooks with accessibility of desktops

Gigabyte has launched its innovative Gigabyte Booktop M1022M 10.1 mobile notebook, which incorporates the best features of a netbook with that of a nettop — defined as Intels new class of low-cost desktop computer, combining the convenience of a notebook with the accessibility of a desktop.

Gigabytes latest foray into this segment of the burgeoning mobile market follows its recent release of the Gigabyte Touch Note T1028M 10.1 mobile touch netbook, which features a rotatable touch screen.

Consumers can benefit from the flexibility of the Booktop M1022M, a product that fits perfectly in as a graceful showpiece at home, while also offering the option of mobility in an increasingly dynamic world, said Werner Joubert, 3C Products Business Manager at Rectron.

The result of ingenious and creative thinking, the Gigabyte Booktop M1022M which uses a 10.1 backlit LED display and an exclusive conversion dock is powered by a six-cell battery that provides up to 7.5 hours of use.

The Gigabyte Booktop M1022Ms uniquely-designed conversion dock, which houses USB, LAN, and VGA ports, allows the slim unit to stand upright and be connected to a stand-alone monitor, while providing accessible keyboard and mouse connectivity.

Gigabyte has designed the Booktop M1022M to quickly and seamlessly be transformed from a netbook to a desktop without the need to shut-down and restart; it can simply be connected to the conversion dock, and used as a desktop immediately, said Joubert.

And — besides doubling up as a battery charger — the Booktop M1022M s conversion dock enables the unit to be placed neatly upright and look just like a book on a desk, which means no clutter and no wasted space.

*** Multiple support use it anywhere ***

The Booktop M1022M features an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB DDR2 memory, and a 2.5 160GB SATA hard drive, upgradable to 320GB.

It also uses Windows XP, the most popular operating system amongst consumers. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, which increases data transfer speed to three times that of a conventional Bluetooth connection, rivalling Bluetooth connections in the latest PDAs and cellular phones.

It also supports IEEE802.11n, the fastest Wi-Fi connection available. The PCI Express Card slot allows for upgrade to a 3.5G connection, offering Internet on-the-go at HSDPA speeds.

***Four smart design elements****

The Gigabyte Booktop M1022M also includes a number of sophisticated design elements, including easy-to-touch materials, which were used for 92 percent of the full-sized keyboard, said Joubert.

This ergonomic keyboard, at 17.5mm, is perfect for people who type for extended periods of time. Gigabytes exclusive Smart Manager user interface allows users to call up the software easily using a special keyboard shortcut.

A useful battery display function is accessed by a specialised button, so users should not have that low battery problem.

Gigabytes modular design offers users ease of access in performing upgrades on hard drives and memory, as well as maintenance, added Joubert.

It is these features, coupled with the flexibility of the design that will appeal to a broad spectrum of users with diverging and unique needs.
