This is a review of the Gaugemaster Series D Twin Track Train Controller that I received as a gift and it has displaced my ageing Lima controller. The unit is very powerful and it delivers a 1 amp strength to each track so that the older locomotives can be used without tripping the cut out due to the current-hungry motors of the older trains. This unit will be used on the local lines of my layout and it is demonstrated in use later in the video. The controller cost me £64 with free P&P and it is compatible with most gauges from OO gauge to Z gauge. Though I am using it with my N-gauge trains. This could be probably one of the best non-DCC controllers on the market to date.

Nice video :) It is a good controller! The layout seems to be coming along very well! I was just about to ask you wether it works with OO gauge as I have only seen it powering N gauge layouts at various exhibitions.

@alexamltd: If you do buy one mate, you won't be dissappointed as its a great controller.

very nice review, are they made of a metal? they look very hard core and trusty for us they might be qworth having on our dc test track
TheLukei 1 year ago
@TheLukei: Thanks for commenting mate. The casing on this controller is made of Heavy Duty Steel and it is very heavy for a Train Controller. If you are seeking one of these for the DC test track, I have seen some single track versions of this controller availible for about £45-£50 on eBay brand new, unless they have changed the prices since.

yea i might get one but they are expensive and i find hornby ones perfictly addiquite

@MrJezza31: The Hornby HM2000 unit is also fairly good, but if you hunt about on eBay, you can find the Gaugemaster Series D Controller on the video for about £35 at the lowest price. Also the Gaugemaster controllers have a lifetime guarantee, so if it fails for some reason. They will fix it or replace it free.
