The State Senate approved legislation today that seeks to combat the destruction of the 10th Amendment of the Constitution by the Federal government in their attempt to infringe upon states rights. Senate Bill 1610, known as the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act, sponsored by Senator Beavers, takes a step in the right direction to restore to the states control of intra-state commerce and the regulation of firearms manufactured and sold within Tennessee.

The Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act asserts that if a firearm and/or ammunition is made totally within the state of Tennessee, and stamped Made in Tennessee, then the federal government has no jurisdiction over that item in any fashion so long as it remains in state and outside of interstate commerce. All state regulations applying to the possession of firearms in Tennessee would still be applicable and must be complied with. This legislation is being proposed to prevent a federal attempt to legislate beyond the Constitutional limits of Congress.

The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that which has been delegated by the people to the federal government, and also that which is absolutely necessary to advancing those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. The amendment was adopted after the Constitutional ratification process to emphasize the fact that the states remained individual and unique sovereignties.

  • Jeez I still fail to see how a owning a gun fully automatic, silenced, or concealed is dangerous. Guns require a person to shoot them. People are dangerous. It is our individual responsibility to not shoot someone in the head. I think that the only regulations that should be imposed on owning a gun is a criminal background check, an educational course, and a psychological evaluation. The 2nd amendment states clearly that we have the right to bear arms any we choose so long as we are sane.

  • @tnwake Grow a dick u little pussy

  • Wonderful now we all need to go nd by all the guns we can, quickly. Tennessee is waking up.

  • tnwake, pay attention to these other people. You think you are right and ALL these other people are wrong? Where did you study the constitution and its papers in college? It says we are to be armed as is the standard soldier.

That means select fire weapons. Also how are we to form an effective militia with pistols hm? We cant. Either way my state constitution spells t out a little better. The right of the people to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be questioned

  • The U.S Constitution also states that the people have the right to take control of the Government in the event our leaders are no longer in office serving the sole purpose of the people. This Country was founded "FOR" the people not politcal parties. Without 105mm canons and Mahine guns, our noble "malitia" will struggle a bit more to transfer power back to the PEOPLE!! • tnwake....you need to read it again, along with what the founders said at the time was the reason for the 2nd amendment. Like Dt0x75 said, also read the Federalist Papers.

"The right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms..."

  • Yea I was beginning to wonder why he kept saying redneck a lot...lol Im glad to see some of us still have our senses...lol.

  • Dt0x75 ....I live in Tennessee as well, but I don't think tnwake understands the 2nd or knows what the Federalist papers are. He's hung up on rednecks for some reason.

The true key for the construction (interpretation) of everything doubtful in

a law is the intention of the lawgivers....Thomas Jefferson

Another thing, statistics show an armed people lowers crime rates, plain and simple. Disarmed (gun free) cities have the highest crime rates every time.

  • lol no the sentence is actually broken by a comma.

    :)

lol Well see you used a label again. Im an Independent, and privately educated...Which means if you went to public School. I am almost guaranteed to have a better education... :P

So yea...btw did I mention the 2nd Amendment is separated by a comma?
