My husband worked in Tower when it closed and it was a sad day for us all. People will never now the real reasons why it was closed. Poor management and many idiots closed this colliery far earlier than it should. Respect to all miners of this great place.
Workers evereywhere are proud and in awe of you all for what you did. You showed that despite the tories calling it "unsustainable", the miners could succeed where the fat cats wouldn't, you ran it not just for your pay, but for the good of the community. Worker-owned industries can sustain us in everything we need. Get the overpaid and the greedy out of the way, and a better way is possible.
Salt of the earth.
