Having just replaced the pulley mechanism between the winch and the mast, it was time to raise the mast back up again.
This video shows how simple it is to raise the mast simply by winding the winch.
It takes less than a minute to get from the (nearly) horizontal position back to vertical and can be done by one person on the winch.
The mast is an Alimast supplied by Aerial-Parts of Colchester and the aerial is a Cushcraft MA5B. There are around 100 cable ties attached to the aerial to stop birds from perching on it and they are clearly visible in some shots.

  • well done! looking good, I know it took more than a weekend and some Stella to get the boys round to help :)

  • Great idea of the "tie wraps" on the booms! I would never have thought unless I had seen this video!

I hope to get up my Boomer which has a 15ft boom back up some time, not that I have had trouble with the birdies, but well worth thinking about the poor beggers that might get fried with my illegal power... ha! I wish!

  • very cool setup

  • I was impressed how easy that went back up, considering it was windy. Shalom MBA
