2. Maori are not the first inhabitants and just by being so does not negate the fact that special privileges are being given them on the basis of race, but no-one questions this practice because of an elevation of sensitivity over truth, and a gravy train is attached to this.

It sounds pretty fair enough. Mr Sharples explained it well for even a foreigner to understand. Maori want to remain Maori first and New Zealand citizen second. There are plenty of examples of this around the indigenous world. Indigenous pride of not wanting to be submerged under another culture.

If it is correct that Sharples says Maori want to be Maori first, and NZ citizen second (not sure that's what he really said) . . but if he did, no problem, surely?

@cqbmaster1 You need to read your history mate, new zealanders are required to uphold the law everyday some of these laws are as old as the treaty itself. Just because it was signed 165 years ago doesnt mean its ok to rip off maori people. Maori recieve settlements from the crown not compensation because that would mean returning everything that was STOLEN from maori and thats easily over a trillion dollars worth of natural resourses being exploited..No one steals from me..Get it??
