Yes carnivore does mean meat-eater, but it is a carnivore by classification.i.e. how it is related to other mammals. You hear the narrator say it is a member of the "Carnivore order" . An order is a stage of classification. Being in the carnivore order means it is related to raccoons, bears, dogs, cats, mongooses etc. Basically it is a carnivore in the same way that a monkey is a primate.
Look up "five stage classification" if you want more information on this.

If it "feeds almost exclusively on fruit", why is it considered a carnivore?

A Kinkajou, what's is that? I thought it was Civet at first but then we have what we have, a Kinkajou. who names and classifies these creatures, lol!

"Promoting the well-being of its ecosystem through its own gluttony." Humanity, take note...

I played with a baby one of these and it almost gnawed my hand off! All I can say is, it's adorable as a baby and it has a huge tongue!

Robotpanda77@ What do you mean? Here's some info about their name:
- It is spelled Kinkajou, not Kinkajew.
- They are in the family Procyonida
- Their scientific name is Potos flavus
- They are also called 'Nightwalkers' and 'Honey Bears'.
-
- Yes, we all do understand they look like a monkey or a ferret. But they aren't.
- Despite being carnivores, Kinkajous' main diet is fruit.
- They eat frogs, insects, & fruit.
- They are also called 'Nightwalkers', because they are nocturnal.
- They have another nick-name, 'Honey Bears', shared with the Sun Bear.
- It is Kinkajou, not Kinkajew
- They can live up to 40 years, but the average is 25.
- Humans are hunting them for their fur to make horse saddles & wallets.
- They are arboreal.
