Ok, so we missed the ferry to Vieques like so many others due to lack of tickets. We were turned away without knowing how we would make it to this wonderful island. Out of sheer luck we met this other couple who where just awesome, so all four of us got enough guts to take a "taxi van" and the smallest plane I have ever flown in to Vieques. We made it and turned out to be so worth it and a great memory we'll never forget!

  • I am from Vieques and my father met my mother working in the airports, he is an aviation technician and he used to fix those planes. Those planes are safe because they are heavier than other plane its size. I use to travel in them since I was a baby because the family could fly for free because my dad was an employee.

  • @chamote Honestly I would take the plane again, it was a great experience! My wife and I absolutely love Vieques as we got engaged in Playa la Plata beach. After the plane ride we spent 3 nights on Vieques and did take the ferry back. Next time we go, it will be the plane again! That's great to hear from someone who has roots there!

  • Ok, y'all. I'm making the decision now... fly or ferry? I can't tell how bumpy it is from the video- what's shakin, whats you shakin? What airline is this? I've heard Seaborne is the largest carrier.

  • @prncsnada Well, our original plan was to take the ferry....but we got to the ferry and it was full and weren't allowing any more passengers on, then they announced that was the last ferry going out that day because their other ferry boat broke down! so, trying to figure out what to do..a taxicab driver offered to take us and another couple to the airport...we flew Vieques Airlink

It was a bumpy and loud ride, but if you're not afraid of flying, take the flight!

  • @prncsnada also, we went to catch the ferry to go back to the main island, and the ferry boat broke down again, and we had to wait 2 hours for the cargo ferry to come and pick us up!

  • I missed my initial flight to San Juan, and was too late to catch the ferry to Fajardo. After spending the night at SJU, I decided to take the AirLink to Veiques....let me just say that, I WILL NEVER LIE ABOUT MY WEIGHT AGAIN!!!!!! Thought I was gonna die!!!!!!

  • Lol, I know. Whenever we were waiting for our plane an auto parts dude drops off a starter for one of the planes. Let me tell you, we will never miss our ferry again! lol

  • I can tell you that the boat will shake the same way and its 1 hour trip

  • that was Fajardo airport a 10 minutes flight to Vieques

  • @prncsnada You are definitely better off with Seaborne!

  • It's still a part 135 flight operation...governed by FAA regulations. Granted it's island owned...but still safer than most. I personally can't wait, I'm making my arrangements as I write this.

  • Thats the thing... I'm TOTALLY afraid of flying. And you guys didn't seem relaxed or seem to get relaxed :) But i appreciated experiencing a full 6 minutes of footage of the 20 mins flight!
