This is my AP Art Drawing Portfolio that I submitted for my 2010-2011 senior year of high school. I scored a 5:)

My Concentration:

My initial idea was to focus on the ways detailed lines and values shaped unique replicas of the human form. As I began, I tried to catch every detail, striving for realism; as can be seen in the first drawings. With a conservative method, I used my skills in black and white sketch to show texture and bring out detail. For example, I tried to highlight the movement found in the wrinkles of my feet (slide 4). In slide 2, I used an eraser to give the drawing greater depth and dominance. Charcoal worked well for me in showing unity and giving my drawings harmony (slide 1). After these first drawings, I decided that using merely black and white could not bring about what I was trying to convey. I began to experiment with color. First, I used conservative colors, like skin tone, but then I found that I was more successful at achieving the effect I wanted by blending in different colors like yellow, orange, and red. This style gave the drawings more variety and a livelier contrast (slides 5-8). Then I began to incorporate more abstract colors, like blue and purple as I drew to show the human form in a less natural way (slides 9, 11). After using in these ways, my drawings became more abstract. Color became more prominent and details became less focused (slide 12).

  • are these mostly from life or photographs that you took and then drew

  • @Lsasuke4 Some are from direct observation, but most are from photographs that I took and then drew.

  • I am currently doing a degree in photography at an art school and I wish I could draw half as good as this....not sure if I should say you are in the wrong profession but with this talent you have a viable alternative.

  • @RealJam52 lol Yeah, I get that a lot. I honestly just believe it would be easier to find a job with a Nursing degree, rather than in the competitive industry of art.

  • Crazy technical style.

  • @MrKeefuh Thanks!
