Mainland china has some serious issues. Pollution as noted by the controversy of the measurements of the air particles in beijing by the US embassy as opposed to chinese measurements. Demonstrations because that's the only outlet for public expression.

What is the history of China, from say, the 1800's till now? That's what I am interested in, the LONG history of China.

and chinese compasses were for aesthetics. But i do like your approach towards mixing both cultures. In the end, planet earth made soo much, but mars hasn't made anything :D

China has not yet reached the amount of pollution the USA has created over the years. What is not being reported by Western Press is how rapidly China's sustainable technologies are advancing.
