The platinum content of the pen does not really add much to the value. The maximum thickness you would ever do with platinum would be around 5 microns without risking peeling. For jewelry usually 1.5-2.5 microns is standard. Realistically the pen has very little platinum value, less than $10. The labor do it generally costs far more than the material, and oddly enough the cheaper Ruthenium version likely cost more to make becasue it's more difficult to work with.

Would you consider the Cool Blue Pen an "everyday med to high volume"writing pen; or rather just a "document signing/fancy" pen?

@Legal37 - these pens are definitely made to be used. No problem at all as a "daily driver."
