  • Another born & raised Calgarian here! :)

That's like when my friends complain about how bad Calgary drivers are, and I say "No, those are all the imports. True Calgarians can drive well, regardless of the road conditions"

  • This song pops in my head every so often. I grew up here in Calgary but it's not the same town it was. I miss the old Calgary, it's lost so much of it's character, just another big city now.

  • @garycalgary Yeah I could have happily lived out my life ignorant of the fact that this tune was used for at least 30 other stations worldwide... some of the worst ones are Hello South Texas and Hello Toowoomba (Youtube search it!)... It was quite a shocker when I found this out :( I always thought it was made exclusively for Calgary... there goes my childhood...

  • for years I always thought this was a special commercial for calgary but they made one for dallas and denver television stations as well

  • This is good but is not the best, the best ones are the ones from Melbourne because there 5 different versions and the one from Nashville that is SIX minutes long with the singer in front of an orchestra

  • This "Hello" campaign has to be one of the most successful promo ideas ever. It started for TV stations in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee and then spread across the U.S. and, it appears, into Canada. If you see other videos for "Hello" on YouTube, you find those town's residents also have fond memories of it. The singer with the wonderful voice is Florence Warner, who sang many of these songs, which were tweaked to fit the targeted town. She did Calgary proud.

  • I think Global still played this in the early 90's. I remember sneaking out of my room to watch TV really early in the mornings when I was younger, and this played from time to time. Oh, memories!

  • Its always going to be home!!

  • ...wtf... wish Fort McMurray had something this cheezy.

  • A truly delightful time it was. Long time Calgarians may recall when this music was played without words as the credits rolled. Classic stuff! Hope someone has. Around 1981

  • Brad Marsh and Paul Reinhart??...and I think Daryl Moir throwing the ball...went to school with Moir at Viscount.

  • This was a promo commercial for one of the local tv stations (which is now Global). Larry Day a news anchor appears several times. They had the rights for broadcasting Flames games.... and did a much better job then what we get now thanks to Ed
