Hello, I'm Eric Amsbury with Allied Fire & Security Portland. Today we are going to discuss Open Eye DVR's. A DVR is a Digital Video Recorder. This is used in place of the old school VCR where the videos are being stored digitally.

We're going to show you a couple little quick steps on how to review and show your playback and watch your images on the cameras.

This is your standard home screen. These are your cameras, we have more cameras on the system. To review a camera, you're going to come up here and you're going to click on the search icon. That's going to take you in the search screen. You will know you're in the search screen by the banner at the top. Next what you want to do is you want to select the camera from across the bottom. You can view more than one camera at a time. It speeds it up if you just view one camera. So we'll pick a camera. You will see we have fast forward, play, play forward and backwards. We have some speed settings here as well. What we want to do is we want to come down what looks like a calendar. Click on the calendar. It's going to bring up a calendar. In the calendar itself, the red day is the current day we are on, the blue day indicates recorded video for that day. So we are going to pick today. Click on that day, you will see the current day that you are searching (it happens to be in the lower right hand corner here) also brings up the time. If I want to change the time, I would use the time slider bar across the bottom. The left half is your hours in military time, the right half is your minutes. So I'm going to go back a little bit. All we have to do at that point of time is click the play button. You will see we have some people moving around. I can go ahead and stop the video as well. I can play it backwards so if I wanted to see something, hey what was that, I can watch it in reverse. I can play it forward again to make sure that is exactly what I wanted to look at. You have some tools at your disposal. With the slider bar you can speed it up while it's playing. You'll see that everybody shoots by. I can also slow it down. You'll see the door closing really slow.

We are back at our home screen here again. This is the search icon we were just in. The search icon is used for when we want to pull small amounts of video. Couple minutes here, maybe a couple still images. If we want need to back up large amount of information like maybe a couple hours worth of time or when we want to back up a weeks worth of time we would use the backup icon. The backup icon keeps the images compressed and allows you to be able to back things up without having large amounts of needing storage, many CD's. If I click on that icon, it pulls up the backup center. What this is, this tells you all the information recorded for this day. It's recorded in 10 minute chunks. I have hours across the top, 10 minutes vertically. What we do is we select the box. What it's going to do is it's going to grab that 10 minutes of time for all 16 cameras. When we select that, it shows us up here in the upper right hand corner the approximate size of that file. When you want to go ahead and record that, we can record it to a CD. If you have another means of storage, like a flash drive perhaps, it would be in this little window here. All we have to do is check this off. We check the include viewer. What the include viewer does is, it is a little piece of software that allows you to play the encrypted video. It keeps the video encrypted and compressed for size reasons. So what you'll do is when you play this back, you will get a display similar to what you're seeing now and you'll be able to pull and watch these clips wherever you need them, wherever the CD goes.

You can also get many kinds of apps for your smartphone that will allow you to view your video through your phones.

Those were a few functions of how to search, save and archive on your DVR. I hope this clip has been useful for you. If you have any other questions on your DVR, please feel free call Allied Fire & Security Portland.
