  • Our Portabote were bought new and fairly recent, mine only 3 years and my friend only one year old. Also our outboard motors were bought new and are 4-stroke. With these motors we can easily get on plane.

How slow is "way slower"? Do you have a GPS to measure the speed? Can you get on plane?

  • My 14 ft PortaBote with 8 HP carrying 2 people can get up to 20 kph using my GPS for measurement. My friend's 12 ft Portabote with 6 HP carrying 2 people can get up to 14 to 16 kph. Don't have experience with a 3.3 HP

  • Nice. What kind of seats are those? Are they sturdy when mounted to the bench seats?

  • Those are removable plastic seats with thin cushions which I bought from LeBaron. They are slided onto bases which are bolted to the Porta-bote's benches. These seats give back support and are sturdy. The bases needed a metal support plate because the bench's plastic would not hold for long.

  • I have a 14 foot porta bote and I'd like to trailer it to local fresh and salt water fishing spots, already assembled. What make and model trailer is good for that?

  • I have the trailer because I bought an aluminum boat long before I bought the porta-bote for its portability advantages. I still keep the aluminum boat for the different advantages you enumerated so well. I do not suggest you buy both types as I did. Nevertheless, each type has its pros and cons and I happened to have both as an error in history. If I were to buy just one boat now, from hindsight, I would choose just the porta-bote.

  • Yes, indeed it is so! However, I do have an aluminum boat plus trailer before I bought the porta-bote and I did not want to sell it. So, what to do? Use the trailer for the porta-bote accordingly (see my previous replies on this similar question.) If I did not already have a trailer, I would not be using it --- there is no need to do so!

  • i thought the purpose of a portabote was to not need a trailer lol

  • Do you deliver to Scotland an is this boat worth it? How much? If I buy one is it easy to assembly and will it fall to bits when I am on it cuz how does it all hold together. Help please!

  • but if you have a boat trailer and a rig that can tow why don't you just buy a conventional full size boat? it would be a lot more comfortable and safer and you can go more places.

  • i have a porta bote mine dosen't need a trailer and i have

the 8ft with a 8hp and it goes way slower please tell me why

  • do you know how fast can you go on a 12 foot porta bote with a 3.3 hp outboard??
