No doubt you ruined your trans and got water in the intake. The intake is right behind the driver side headlight

@bigblockstang Well, theyre made for slight offroading but nothing super extreme. I own a 2001 Ford Escape XLS V6 4WD. It's pretty tough. And can take a slight trail, but not much more than an 07 Dodge Nitro can when you don't remoe the spoilers.A little more, but not by much. It can take on the god awful Wyoming winters and rutts for roads, but isn't made for going through deep water or over sharp rocks. That's when you pull out the F250 Superduty.

@sm32586 the escape is a peice of shit . it was written offf(totalled) doing 20kph.theres lots of vehicles out there that are great for offroading that are made after the 90s. my 94 buick would do this river crossing better then that escape.landrover/ cruisers would own this thing u dont know what ur talkn about!

Escapes aren't for off roading, the alternator is pretty much on the bottom of the engine for some stupid reaon
