Dr. Phil responds to comments on his show about stay-at-home mothers versus working moms. Read more on his blog, Turning Point! (http://blog.drphil.com)
@MsSooRandom (continued) whether I chose to stay at home or become a working mom!!!! Either way the family structure and moral center is what is important. A child doesn't suffer/gain if a one parent stays home while the other works or if they both work. Point is, something has to be done so that the family doesn't fail.
@tranurse That's right! I was raised by a SAHM until the finances in our home became too much for my father to handle on his own. Although it was a part time job, I didn't suffer at because my parents made it a priority for me to be able to have the things that I needed and the love that I deserved without sacrificing too much in the long run. Now that I am no longer a little girl (2nd year college student), both of my parents are working to help keep me in school so I can one day be successful
@MsSooRandom exactly. i've been saying for years, i'd love to stay at home with my kids, but they like to eat. i think a sahm works incredibly hard, and they don't get the credit they deserve. and working moms get pilloried. you can't win.
I don't get why there is even a topic about SAHM vs Working Moms. A parent who stays home and takes care of the kids is just as important as the parent who works for a living. Both require the effort to make sure things run smoothly for the benefit of the family!
