Nope; Saparmurat Niyazov, the dictator of Turkmenistan up until his death in 2006, was also illiterate. Just something I felt like pointing out.
Also, is it just me, or is it really hard to make out some of what Idi's saying? Not just in this clip, but in the rest of the documentary as well.

Yes, it is said that Idi Amin was the only ever illiterate to ever hold power in any country in modern history. I don't know if that is true, but most agree he was a simple man who had a boyish charm, and used that and loads of luck to end up leader of Uganda.
I also seem to recall lots of Arab leaders liked his ruthless politics, and he was a known anti-semite. They probably financed him during his reign.
