Story of an Hour came to be a side project for gutiarist Elena M. She and her sister, bassist Lydia M., had been planning to form a rock band whilst Elena's original band, Ever Dream, was on break. From her home in Seattle, Elena put in a call to drummer Casey Montana, who was honing his skill in his home of San Francisco. Casey was the drummer for the successful but short-lived Blood Horse Blood, but at the moment he had no projects going on. He jumped at the chance to become part of Story of an Hour's line up.

The band was having trouble finding a singer until Elena's bandmate from Ever Dream, Callie Stone, informed her that her friend and relatively well-known artist Damien Shade was interested in the place. Considering the gothic industrial style of Damien's solo work, Elena was surprised by his interest, but more than willing to give him a chance. Damien hit it off with the band right away and shortly after joining actually came up with the name of the band. He took it from a 19th century short story by Kate Chopin.

"Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" is from the band's debut album Joy That Kills. Music by Elena M. Lyrics by Damien Shade and Casey Montana. This video was recorded during a concert at the Sealth Theater in Seattle, Washington. "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" is the band's the longest title in the band's tracklist to date. It also featured the writing debut of Casey Montana who told Damien Shade about a troubled relationship he had with a girl the year before. Damien encouraged Casey to make a song about it. Casey liked the idea and he and Damien had written the lyrics in under an hour.
