Their was a Materia that could revive Aeris. It was called Gameshark.

She wanted to die, people...Phoenix downs only work on people who want to come back...and btw, generally speaking, people aren't really dead when they fall in battle, they are either Wounded or KO'd

@MadreAndDaughterDre It's honestly better than he didn't save her... think of the impact her death has made on the cast of Final Fantasy VII and the players as well.. I don't know about you, but that was the saddest moment in all of video game history, to this day for me. While I liked Aeris.. if she didn't die Final Fantasy VII would be a whole different game.. and I would have the game be no other way.
