Ducky probably would have gone yard on the Deans nice spitting though, the Gas House gang were cut ups and they got some nice work in getting some trophies in the 30s. Only thing missing was Landis kept the game segregated the worse thing in baseball history
@nbahistorian23 I totally agree. The movie about Maris and Mantles '61 season got made because of Billy Chrystal. I fear there is no St. Louisan with enough juice to get a Gashouse flick made.
BTW, it was several years after '34 that that nickname was coined. But it certainly IS the '34 team that played the gasiest!
Pepper Martin...already a great nickname, had he, but was twice blessed with folks calling him "The Wild Horse of the Osage." Superb moniker, and fitting as shown by this film, which is a joy to behold for a baseball fan. Not a Cardinal fan, mind you, but a baseball fan.
My favorite Cardinals team of all time! What an awesome movie "The Cardinals Movie" is. How I wish it were available on dvd. Thanks for the wonderful posts!
They should seriously make a movie about the Gas House Gang 1934 World Champions Cardinals as well as the 1927 Murders Row Champions New York Yankees because there is no 2 more important and more popular teams in MLB history then those 2. Well at least in my opinion there isnt.
@wonglee2424 Loved baseball much better when it was segregated and the worse thing in baseball history was when it was racially integrated.

Eeeexxxcellent. Cardinals are the best! It would be cool to go back in time and see these guys play in person.
