@ninjajesus81 The Lincoln in those debates was not the same Lincoln who won reelection in 1864. Lincoln's views on race had changed. Meeting the great Frederick Douglass and seeing the bravery of the black union soldiers convinced him that blacks were not as inferior as he once thought.

Too bad Abraham Lincoln was still a racist. He didn't think blacks should be slaves, but that doesn't mean he wasn't racist.
