ADA has taken v.long to develop the LCA. A 25years lead time to develop a fighter aircraft is unrealistic.IAF was never enthusiastic about inducting LCA.The aircraft's combat performance was dismal and so was its weapon load and Engine problem. Its high pressure hydraulic system was prone to frequent failures and its engine & a fly-by-wire system has serious defects. During its prototype tests the LCA prototypes were grounded for many months on many occasions. It has failed in many flight tests.

Although the LAC has been inducted with numbers of major defects as fighter aircraft but True Rome was not built in a day but that was rome. This rome (LCA ) the white elephant, the way its being going on for past 30 years, seems will not be get fully operational capability in next 5 years. But IAF can use this failed experience in future & can use this LCA as advance jet trainer or may be become beauty of museum or some public square to remind their 30 years of nonstop effort.

This looks like a great fighter for combat 40 years ago.

@jobjed: In the same way PAF is a masterpiece when compared to PLAAF!! Even China is not ready to induct it!! No proper engine, no one knows about how shameless its performance is, already one crashed, U r inducting it coz it is ur fleet is redundant and u have no other choice, It is PAF which has inducted it as a face saver!! There is no proper tech used!! Old style Metal Plane with Chinese Avionics which are reverse engineered!! And PAC have made the effort to paint it!! What a waste!!

@TheWarriorsMr IAF & Indian Navy have both said they intend to carry out some more tests and it remains doubtful if the Tejas will actually fulfil the role it was built for: to replace the ageing MiGs. A reality check reveals some sobering facts. For instance, LCA has been in the making for some 30 years.Initial budget was Rs560 crore; this spiralled to over Rs15,000 crore;40% of the components are imported, including the all-important engine. The Indian Kaveri, was a failure.
