The Impreza isn't a better deal in the long run. The Impreza does 17 city/ 23 hwy, but the Golf R does 19 city/ 27 hwy. You'll make up for the price difference in gas.

@DroverChicago while the 2.0T is a gr8 motor the vr in the R36 did in fact make more power it was an issue of space and cooling that stopped vw from putting it in the Golf because of the vrs unique design im sure it barely weighed more then the 2.0t and if you combine Direct injection with no boost im sure emissions was about the same as well at the end of the day the VR sounds way better and made the R line special and while it maybe more difficult 2 tune it will always make more power

@anotherone10 -- That glorious VR6 had less power, less torque, worse fuel economy, higher emissions, and weighed more, that's how. The new motor is simply a better solution all around. Oh, and it's more easily tuned for even more power.
