racing simulators will never have brilliant damage like u said due to licencing, i agree forza having damage in the first place is good enough but its only good enough up 2 a 40mph impact and after that its rubbish cuz the damage is limited!!!

Still in there! No damage in forza 3 looks realistic, atleast in gt5 parts of it looks realistic, thats the difference.

@RagingUtai "Had". That Damage was later removed from the final version.

Gt5 had implemented a rarely used feature called Decal Tessellation. the idea behind this technique is to take a displacement map texture, project it onto geometry - just like a decal – and tessellate the geometry in real time so that the displaced geometry looks like physical damage to the vehicle. Plain and simple, mimicking realistic damage on the fly. Forza 3 simply swapped out decals and models which made collision between vehicles look rather dull compared to Gt5!! idiots

Becomes other players around the world BUT a huge problem both games have is that the "season" or "career" modes in both games aren't exciting because the AI isn't competitive even in hard ... I have logged some pretty fast times on the forza leaderboard (most my times in the top 1% of the world) BUT I shouldn't be beating the AI by 5-8 sec on average on HARD difficulty ... game is too easy .... only time a race is close is if I mess up a turn.

Pro race driver had one of the best AI ... you are completely wrong in saying that the AI isn't why we play forza and gran turismo ... REALISTIC RACING is why we play both those games so AI is extremely important .... you are right in saying the competitors have done it better BUT these two games need to improve ... forza gets away with it because once you have enough cars and credits all forza players do is tune a car and try to log the fastest time on a specific course ... your "AI" then ...

Pro race driver, grid, dirt 3, shift 2 have the best damage modeling

Pro Race Driver still has the best damage

@swootwan guess what u forza fanboy, it just kicked forzas ass
how about GT are just lazy to do damage modeling for all their cars and made the excuse about car makers complaining about making their cars look bad???

@Zimba9810
Many people argue that, but with the amount of content and detail that goes into all these GT games, I personally just find it harder to call Polyphony lazy.

Forza 3 damage modeling is worse than Forza 2's.

@jayjjj3 interesting. I've never heard someone say that before. Is there less of it in F3 or it worse looking in your eyes?

@solidkwon The scratches and mechanical damage modeling is better, however the deformation seems to have been taken back a notch or so. Its probably a licensing issue, but I remember in Forza 2 I would frequently crash my Lancia Stratos as it was and extremely rare and expensive car and it seems that the actual dents etc. seem to be more serious and deep than those in Forza 3.

@jayjjj3 u sure have a great attention to detail, dontya? XD
i don't know if something like that would be a licensing issue but it's def odde that the damage detail looks worse in forza 3 than in forza 2.
