The Night Before Christmas Pennsylvania Dutch style. Narrated by an 'authentic' Amish farmer with a true 'Dutchy' accent. Accompanied by goats, Hanna & Sandy. Sit back, relax and enjoy this holiday tale!
@referwar then you and your amish family have no tolerance. My grandmother reads this very same book every christmas in her thick accent and finds it to be absolutely hilarious. She even has tolerance for Amish Paradise by Weird Al, but jufging from your old fashioned reaction, probably would absolutely despise the man and burn his CDs.
in my area the amish are well known for tolerance of others around them, you would make them shake their heads.
This was not meant to be disrespectful. It is an actual book that is written with the PA Dutch accent. Also, you do not have to be Amish to speak PA Dutch. That is a naive statement! This book is a tradition for many families. Plus the person family who is reading this book is "PA Dutch" as well had neighbors growing up who are Amish.
We very much respect the Amish and Mennonite. I only wish that we could have the same values as they do!
thats just outrageously descriminating and disrespectful to their culture. I grew up close to mty amish family in ohio and this is why they resent us so much becasue nieve people like you ...smh read a book
Me, too! But out here in Amarillo, TX dem folks don't know Amos and his clan. Us Lancaster countians only know the true dialect. This lady on here sounds a bit Scottish or English and not so much Dutchy.
I'm PA Dutch.......Lancaster County raised, Mennonite background, and all that.....The accent is hard to do, I can't do it. This sounds almost like a bad Scottish accent lol....The only thing that sounds close is the pronunciation of "Now" and also I say "rutching" I didn't know that was PA Dutch ........woops!
jumpin' chesooey! :] Thanks for sharing this story! It's become a special "classic" tradition in my family. My dad reads it to all of us in the authentic Penna Dutch accect he inherited from his family. Merry Christmas! ... now chust go back to bet!
I'm a Dutchie and I love my accent =]
