I'm still having editing issues because of my stupid Dell computer. So, I know this video doesn't explain much, but if you check out my blog, I will give step by step instructions.

You will need:
ribbon with a width of 3/8'' (9mm)
The length of mine were 2'7''
REMEMBER NOT ALL LACES ARE THE SAME LENGTH
I used my other shoelaces as a guide for how long the I need to cut the ribbon.
Scissors
Heat Shrink Tubing
I got 3/16'' tubing with a 2:1 ratio
You could even get the next size smaller if you get thinner ribbon.
Hair dryer
Pliers or something too hold onto the ribbon as you're heating it
Some sort of fabric glue.

@Terps1chore the heat shrink tubing i got was 3/16 of an inch. That's 4.76mm so about 5mm....if you want smaller ones maybe try 3mm. but the ribbon will definitely need to fit into the tube before it's shrunk. Also since the ribbon's ratio is 2:1, that means the diameter of the tube is being cut in half. so half the diameter of what you buy will be the size of tubing once it's shrunk. I measured the diameter of a shoestring I already had and matched the diameter with the tubing. good luck!

@katieNlove what diameter is recommended for most ribbon widths? like the ribbon width in this video seems a bit thick for my liking so I'd probs go a bit narrower. I found 10mm, 8mm and 5mm in diameter of clear heat shrink tubing but I don't know which size to get :-\ Can you help me please? Thanks heaps!

@lindaNxay Oops, I forgot to say something! :) If you just google clear heat shrink tubing, there are a ton of websites that sell it. However they usually have a minimum length that's usually well over 10ft!. Since I didn't even need even 1 foot of tubing, Ebay was definitely the best way to go.

@lindaNxay If you go to my blog katiebee1018.blogspot.com, i have more info on how to actually make the shoe strings.
I got my heatshrink tubing from ebay. I got 5 foot for only $2.75. Heat shrink tubing is normally used for electrical reasons, so stores with electrical/hardware stuff may have the tubing. However, clear tubing can sometime be hard to find. Places like Lowes and Home Depot will usually carry black tubing, but not clear. I think ebay is the best place to buy

Where can I get the heat shrink tubes? I recently purchased a shoe with really ugly looking shoelaces and I bought some lace ribbons to replace it. Didn't know where I can get the heat shrink tube and would like to try your technique. Thanks for the video.
