The iconic Larry Grayson, doing his trademark song from 1972 'Shut That Door', on his TV variety chat show of the same name. We miss you Larry! apologies for the quality, seems to have come off a studio monitor or something.

  • @zxychesatz349 I think people knew what was going on. The difference was that there was no political correctness at that time. You could make in your face gay innuendo - as long as it didn't become really crude - without anyone putting a political slant on it, which meant in some ways you could get away with more. Have a look at "Do The Shake" by the Village People with an 8 year old dressed innocently as a leather man. I cannot believe you could get away with that now.

  • RIP Larry you are still missed x

  • I think about this song allday, there's something cosy and comforting about it.

  • I have this surviving, bits of an episode,Larry's just been attacked by Rod Hull and Emu!

  • This song has got stuck in my head! I go around all day singing it, even my 9 year old daughter sings it!

  • Looks like it was recorded on an old Phillips CV200 video recorder. Sorry to sound nerdish, I couldn't help but notice.

  • Larry is such a joy!!

  • @zxychesatz349 yes mate...we knew what it meant...have a gay day...have a tight night!

  • I wonder if the relatively innocent viewers of 1972 would have got the obvious innuendo of 'I'm feeling rather queer' and 'I haven't felt myself all day' that we would immediately understand now.

  • A True Gent, God Bless Larry
