just a bit of ramblin about the fluke and flea ukuleles....some stuff i did not mention

-mine have stayed in tune very very well....no issues with the grover friction tuners

-the magic fluke company has great upgrades/options....i.e. rosewood fretboard, koa top, mahogany top, or many funky designs. the cost goes up significantly and i really wanted to aim this at people who need a good player who are on more of a budget.....i've been very happy with my 'stock' and 'solid color' ukuleles....(though i want their cowboy design...too hilarious)

-I cannot repeat this loud enough....my experience dealing directly with Dale and Phyllis Webb (the owners and originators of the company) was very positive

Here's where you can find em'

http://fleamarketmusic.com you can also click on their 'marketplace' link and find used items....*note...fleas and flukes go verrrry fast when they're secondhand and the price is right....so be quick if you go that route.

www.elderly.com you can find them here....i haven't really dealt with these guys....did make a call to them once about another item....i felt the service from that particular person was a bit wanting....

folks who get their flukes and fleas on:
(surf around their sites if you like....i'm not gonna post individual vids....also there are many other great ones out there....)

  • Excellent review, I was wondering how you attached the strap to your fluke? It looks like it is just rope and tape.

  • @cameronhirsch

    Hi,

yes...rope and tape indeed! :) thank you,

    todd

  • Great review. I am leaning towards the Flea with Mahagoany, Rosewood fretboard and geared tuners. Do you think this is overkill?

I am bass player, too BTW and can't figure out how I got the uke bug so fast. Looking for something to take everywhere.

  • angel,

ooooohhhhh the flea with mahogany and rosewood fretboard...sawheeeet! that thing is gonna sound soooo good.

re: the uke bug....just submit to it ha ha ha...nothing is ever the same :)

  • Thanks for this very helpful review!

  • @copterdude1 - did you ever get a response to this? I'd like to know the name of the song too!

  • Thanks! You helped me a lot, talking about and playing the same thing in different ukes!

    Congrats!

  • George Harrison loved the Uke. I like my Fluke. It stands up on a flat surface. Never tried to use a strap, but I might now. Thanks

  • Thanks for the review, just called them and ones being made now.

What is the name of the song you played?

    Thanks

  • I love my fluke!

  • @doogey9 Gotta love having a plastic ukulele, I made a half strap for one of my ukes using some rope.

  • Todd do you have any CD's I could buy?

  • @segazora I can buy a little miniature guitar in Tijuana for that price, too. However, they all sound like crap. The Fluke has excellent tone quality and volume, great action on the fretboard, perfect intonation all the way down the neck, and as was pointed out in the video, they are very sturdy. All the cheap chinese knock offs may cosmetically look like ukuleles, but they're toys. This is a real instrument.
