In the fourth and decisive Stanley Cup Finals game versus Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings right wing Darren McCarty undresses Janne Niinimaa and Ron Hextall, scoring a career defining goal.

Great play-by-play feed with Gary Thorne.

Don't miss the postgame interview with Brian Engblom towards the end!

  • 4:35 I don't remember mullets still being around in 1997 0_o

  • McCarty was the man. I remember watching this live as a kid and being so proud that my favorite team won the Stanley cup. I got into hockey a couple years prior and have been obsessed with the wings ever since. Win or lose, RED WINGS FOREVER. I've been to football games, basketball games, baseball games all over the place and I'll say this much. Wings fans are the best BY FAR.

  • as an 8 year old flyers fan, i will never forget screaming at my tv at janne niinimaa. Look at 1:16, look at his fucking ankles. holy shit. almost 15 years later and the only thing i do now is laugh.

  • my favorite hockey player ever i have a jersey signed by him and multiple things signed by him i even have a detroit lions season ticket holder pass signed by him :D

  • I remember watch this as a kid being a huge red wings fan being able to stay up pass my bed time sitting on the couch with my dad.

  • 4:35 is that Bam Margera?

  • @Temezkin47 for absolutely no good reason.

  • Definitely one of the nicer playoff goals in the history of hockey, and by a grinder too.

  • Sweet mullet on Engblom. The goal wasn't too bad either.

  • To that day Janne Niinimaa was actually a good defenseman. Now he's just a national joke here in Finland to be honest.
