Civilization. Board Game. Part 1 of 2. This video explains how to play the game of Civilization by Avalon Hill.
http://www.historygamer.com/2010/09/11/civilization-board-game-by-avalon-hill/

Strategy games enthusiasts will enjoy the fact that they get a lot of pieces to play with in this game, the map board, treasury/army pieces, and a mat to hold your off board units.

Also there is the AST (Archaeological table used to track your progress through the game), trading cards and Civilization cards.

Up to nine nations can play (Up 7 can play simultaneously), the first player to move all the way across the AST wins.

You progress by expanding your nation. If you go to the Cilization page on historygamer.com I will explain more and you can discuss the game there in more detail.

  • Have you ever played History of the World, which is a board game sort of similar to this? If so would you ever review it?

  • @ListWritingMachine I haven't but its on my "wants" list. Perhaps I can get one of the club members to purchase it and I'll review it.

  • Combat example is off.

You removed a second Assyrian counter after the pop cap had been reached. Combat only reduces below pop cap if the sides start off equal (since the losses are then applied simultaneously).

  • @ORCA4312 ah yes of course. Thanks for that. Adding a comment in the video to compensate.

  • @Alex86658 It is a great game. I am only so-so at winning, but have loved every game. The mechanics are elegant, and there are many things to do.

    Play it.

  • Had a copy of this around for ages somewhere, never got round to playing it, looks and sounds interesting :)
