Hello, everyone. This is the first of a series of videos following the adventures of Torin in his quest to find his parents.

This game came out in 1995 and is still not known well among most retrogamers. It is stylistically similar to King's Quest VII but is perhaps even more family friendly (even though the creative director was Al Lowe!).

********

In this first part, we witness the murder of two people (presumably royal), the rescue of a baby by a kindly nurse, and a sinister man. In another part of the prologue, Torin's parents are crystallized by some sort of apparition and whisked away into the ground. The same sinister man appears and sends Torin on his quest.

Torin visits his farmhouse to collect a few tools, rids his mother's sewing basket of a pest, touches a hot stove (like the idiot that he is), and goes berry-picking. Boogle (his pet) learns how to be a box (?). How useful.

Stay tuned for Torin's inquiry at the Crystal City with the help of a not so helpful guard!

EDIT: Remember, folks, you can turn off annotations if they're bugging you!

Also, be sure to check out ADVRipper's version of Torin's Passage; his videos are better quality (but have Portuguese subtitles).

  • Wow. Wow wow wow! I was ten years old when I first played this game. My dad had gotten a shiny new IBM with a whole packet of compact discs, including The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain. Oh, the nostalgia. :)

Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • they just dont make games like this anymore! =(

  • @cloudfishfish That thing came with a lot of good stuff. The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain was good, as well as Torin's Passage, but I'm still a Mechwarrior fan. Can't wait for the new one to finally be released.

  • @jas3point14 Yup! Those were the days.

  • @redephelant I think my parents got that same IBM. An Aptiva right?

  • you know where i can download this

  • Ah, the good old days, where you can explore the inner worlds and NOT find demons ready to tear out your ribcage.

  • @redephelant i played dr. brain!!!

  • I love the traveling music at 6:16. Like others, I played this multiple times b/c my brother bought a computer that included this among its free CD ROM games. I still have the disk--should see if I can play it on something...

  • I tried so hard to figure out what game this was I played 11 years ago. Finally found it thanks to Google and your video. Seriously who thought typing in old time adventure game with crystals would be enough?
