Wrens!!! SOOOO cute!!!! I love Wrens!!! A family of Carolina Wrens nested in my radish plant!!!

besides loss of environment,,,,its the brown headed cow birds that pose the biggest threat to nesting birds.

We have one wren that frequently lands on the top of the birdhouse at the back of our yard, sings to whoever might be listening, then flys away. It is so cute how he always lands at the same spot to sing! I don't think he's using the birdhouse either.

Its all cute and angelic at first but after a month (it's the beginning of July) it really gets annoying as these little birds don't quit. They start singing early morning and don't stop till evening! Don't their little throats hurt? I hate to admit it but where's my pee-shooter!

Interesting "hate" comments. I would say the "squatting" was the result of a lack of ideal housing rather the parasitism in the case of wrens. If there are territorial issues, then the property owner needs to take it upon themselves to provide more ideal housing to fit the needs of the particular species.

Thank you for posting this!! I've been trying to figure what kind of bird has been singing to me. I played this video on my phone while outside and the bird came flying in from way out back and practically landed on me.

@lightsbeacon I also hate HOWR and I hate the sound they make, too. A pair of them are raising 7 of these little buggers in my backyard right now. They destroyed a Chickadee nest and I believe they're the reason I have no Bluebirds this year. Once these are gone, so is the nesting box they've confiscated.
I am reading these comments and I have to disagree. The sound of t his bird just sends chills up my spine. I hate HOWR. Can't tell you how many Eastern Bluebird eggs and little babies these birds peck/kill. I do not and will not ever allow them to nest in my boxes and save them for my Bluebirds and Chickadees.

@lightsbeacon Thanks for your comment. That same house is now occupied by our first Bluebird and I can certainly appreciate not wanting anyone to run him out. I have not seen the house wren for 2 years since I made that video; hopefully he will stay away until the bluebirds fledge.
