Update. The question comes up about the caliper I use.. its a cheap plastic one like this. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-utility-caliper-7914.html I have a nice digital one too, but the cheap one works fine.

How to check and adjust your front toe alignment on a mitubishi evo 8. The evo has an equal front and rear track which makes this an easy process. Save yourself $100 and do this at home every 6 months. Driving can cause your alignment to go out every once in a while. A poor alignment, especially toe thats far from zero, will chew up your expensive tires quick. And if you track your car, you'll get better performance by setting an agressive alignment. Knowing how to adjust your own alignment means you can set it back to "normal" for everyday driving.

  • Where can I get that Amazing measuring tool?

  • @juanroque92 See updated video description.

  • actually at 2:10 you said that if the distance from the rear of the front suspension is less, its toe in. Thats wrong. Its toe out! So your car will turn into corners very aggressivly.

  • @FreestyleBrain If the rear of the wheel is closer to the reference line (less distance), then the wheel is pointed in.. hence.. toe in.

  • this video was a lot of help thanks....but the steering wheel thing....i wouldnt use that method that piece of wood that you bungee corded on there is probably not level either and the wheel can be level but the wood could be on there crooked

  • @xMOWERYx Agreed.. Its functional, but far from ideal. I think the pros use some bar contraption to keep the wheel from moving. But get this.. the steering wheel can be crooked, and you can still get a perfect alignment.. LOL!! I learned this the hard way.. Figure out a way to hold the steering wheel in place and I'll add it to the description of this post.

  • what if the back wheels are spaced farther apart than the front? that would screw it all up.

  • Thank you so much for this video!!

I just installed coilovers on my Accord and had a nasty left pull.

After doing this the car tracks straighter than it has since I bought this car years ago!!

Its nice to be able to do this at home and save money on alignments!!

I also wanted to compliment you on the quality of this video, there are others showing DIY alignments but none so clear and well produced.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • was just going to mention the fact of the fronts and back been different widths, but looks like its already been said

  • Yes that is what I was wondering if the back and front tires are always spaced the same distance?

  • @eyelesskiller8

Eh? It's an Evo mate... No fake Brembos here.

  • Well what if your car has been wrecked and your body might be bent?

  • sweet best vid yet

  • Just to note, for any front wheel drive vehicle there should be about a 81/16th to 1/4th of in inch of toe out due to the fact that the tires pull in when accelerating and at a coast. Also for rear wheel drive vehicles there should be a 1/16th to a 3/16th of an inch of toe in for the back tires push the front tires out during acceleration and coasting

  • Keep the steering wheel fixed with a ratchet strap going under the drivers seat front mountings and then up to each side of the steering wheel spokes... MW

  • nice brembos
