I too played this hymn when I heard about all the kids killed in Norway by that mad man. I've enjoyed visiting Norway (years ago) and was raised in a church that began as part of the Norwegian Lutheran Church in America. We sang this tune....so I know it well. I pray for peace and healing for the families and friends of those who were killed and for all Norway. No country does so much good in the world on a per capita basis!

You can actually hear the canons from the Akershus castle/fortress in the background celebrating the King of Norways birthday.

Even though I'm Australian and don't understand a word, this is still a beautiful stirring hymn. Language isn't necessary to appreciate a beautiful patriotic song.
Lenge leve kongen!

This *is* a great video!! I also am a Norwegian American living in Minnesota. Many of us retain great pride in our heritage (This video certainly stirred that in me!) Those who came before us moved to the U.S. *not* due to governmental persecution, but rather due to desperate economic factors of the time. Perhaps this is why our hearts still tie us to Norway. Thanks for posting this video!
