In the spring of 1985, a group of disability advocates from Cleveland blocked two busses during lunch hour on Public Square. Years of failed negotiations and efforts to get RTA to purchase lift-equipped busses and to make public transportation accessible to people with disabilities resulted in this memorable act of civil disobedience. Thanks to Frank Anderson of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Buckeye Chapter, Mary Verdi-Fletcher of the Dancing Wheels, Gary Edler of LEAP, advocate Florence White, and Jesse Anderson, a disability leader of many roles, for sharing their memories of this event. These interviews were conducted by John Leoni from 2005-2006.
