  • I... fucking... love you

  • The word "fag", originally bundle of sticks, came from the idea that homosexuals were so evil, they should be burned. Most gay people have probably had that word used against them, maybe while they were getting beat up. It's a terrible word, that should be discouraged. But because of your "punk" rulebook that you live by, you think its worse to discourage that word, than to actually use it. If that's punk, seriously FUCK being punk.

  • To you last terrible point: you know your friend, his views, sexuality etc. and you can make a rational decision to use the word knowing it won't really hurt anybody. On the other hand, using it in a public forum, to describe a fucking war criminal, anyone can see it, and you're using the idea of homosexuality to lower people's opinions of someone. Same context? Not even fucking close.

  • @katelovesyou666 When all is said and done, I don't give a fuck about what is or isn't punk. It was an irrelevant 80's art movement. Not a code people should live by. I hardly feel that discouraging HATEFUL words like "fag" should be frowned upon, or seen as "policing". Are you saying that everyone has the right to say whatever they want all the time? You would defend Fred Phelps and all of the racist ass holes on youtube? Punk or not, you fucking suck.

  • @Vajrayana514 It's not something to disagree. It's like saying someone born in 1980 is more victorian than someone born in 1860 because they have a victorian house. Or like saying you are more Japanese than someone born in Tokyo because you eat sushi and read manga.

  • @ilovechairmanmeow I disagree. :)

  • @Vajrayana514 No. Idealogically, they are not even close to being punk. They use watered down radio friendly lyrics and arrangements to make more money than when they were playing from the heart. Nothing punk about that. No band today can be "more punk" than any of the bands you mentioned, because those bands started punk. Regardless of how the sound evolves, it only gets FURTHER from the original movement, even if it sounds better to you.

  • @ilovechairmanmeow It's not about the music it's about the message, no?

Rise Against is actually a freak exception because they're a band that became more political over time than when they first started.

Musically, sure, they're more alternative rock than punk rock. But ideologically I consider them to be more "punk" than the Sex Pistols, the Misfits, the Ramones or The Clash.

  • @ilovechairmanmeow Dude, my comment was from 2 years ago. They have sold out big time.

  • @ilovechairmanmeow Who defined "punk" standards? It sure as hell wasn't you. Punk has no standards. Policing people's language IS pc, it's the most annoying thing that anyone can fucking do, and also isn't "punk." Dont be so easily offended by a damn YT comment. I dont understand how its ok to you to call your friend a "fag" but not someone online if its used in the same context. Shut the fuck up, let people live their lives and relax.
