quick tutorial on how to activate skyrim mods.

Download Mods here:
http://skyrimnexus.com

---------------------------------
Data Files grayed out? (make sure to change the .ini in your game folder AND your %username%/documents/my games/skyrim)
---------------------------------
Go to: Drive Letter:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini

For those who don't have bought the game on steam, the SkyrimPrefs.ini file is located in Drive Letter:\Users\"USERNAME"\Documents\My Games\Skyrim

Add these lines, or change them if they already exist so they match the below:
[Launcher]
bEnableFileSelection=1

If that fails:
Go to: Drive Letter:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Skyrim
Make the Skyrim folder un-read only.

  • @tenkaiechi01 you are very welcome :)

  • i tryed to install the JaySuS Swords mod. and that really is simple. but it didnt work. and i also tryed the pistol mod..and that didnt work either. i dont know what i do wrong. because i got a very new version of skyrim. so it is made to accept mods and stuff..but it just dont work

  • @noobie556 you have to be a little bit more specific than "it's not working", what exactly did you do, in what way does the mod not work?

  • For those still having a problem, ALL I DID WAS DELETE SKYRIMPREFS.INI in the My Games/Skyrim folder.

    I tried doing a fresh install on another computer and had the "data files" still grayed out. I did not do anything but delete the skyrimprefs.ini file and "data files became selectable. Credit to larsondarcy101 for figuring this out.

  • You need to add that line in SkyrimPrefs.ini located in My document/MyGames/Skyrim or something. I don't use win 7 so figure it yourself, pleasa:D).

    Look for the line:

    [Launcher]

    bShowAllResolutions=0

    uLastAspectRatio=2

    And add it like this:

    [Launcher]

    bShowAllResolutions=0

    uLastAspectRatio=2

    bEnableFileSelection=1

see all

  • @metalbillyboy okey,i use modloader now and some mods seems to work. but almoust all the mods dont work. the texture mods and things that makes sounds and surroundings better . they work. but the mods that adds weapons or armour in the game, they dont work.i tryed the lord of the rings wepon mod.and in the modloader it says that the mod was successfully loaded. but when i enter the game ,nothing have changed. so its not that it isnt " working" its got more to do with that its not in the game :P
