For a real eye opening read the Holy Blood Holy Grail. If the Albi Crusade hadn't occured science would be 300 years futher along. Think of that as you fill your vehicles fuel tank and open your power bill think what it might be like if only the Catholic Church hadn't interfered with science. The Cathars legend lives on..........

  • "europe's first genocide" ?

The use of the word genocide is probably wrong here.

Also a better contender would be the St. Brice's Day massacre.

Ethnic cleansing, genocidal actions and concentration camps. All the worst things in European history were anglo saxon.

  • "Kill them all, God will know his own" - Arnold Amaury, July 22, 1209, Just before his army murdered 20,000 people in Beziers. This is a monk talking here

  • meunke, you may want to "whip" yourself to atone for your hate of the cathars

  • Here's a little historical info on Albigensianism, of which the Cathars were a large sect: Their beliefs have much in common with Manichaeanism. Catharists have only one sacrament, called consolamentum, and they reject baptism and Eucharist. They have a special hatred for the cross as a symbol. Because they view matter as evil, they forbid marriage (although fornication is okay). The hold that the material world was created by an 'evil' god.

  • tavi13, Constantinople is usually considered to be in Asia not Europe even though part of it is in Europe. Great little video!

  • it wasn't Europe's only crusade. The fourth crusade ended with the sack of Constantinople, the richest and most cultured city in Europe at the time. A wound which the Byzantine Empire never recovered from, which ultimately led to their downfall against the Muslim Turks.
