@garydupuis - I think you should listen more carefully to early Dylan. He was (and is) not just a great songwriter. He delivered his own songs like absolutely noone else could. He has been labeled a non-singer for so long that people like you (obviously a fan) actually believe it. It's simply not true. Just try singing one of those songs yourself and see if you can do it better (with more feeling, more melodically, with better pitch, whatever) than Dylan. I doubt it very much

Kris Kristofferson is one of the greats that defies a genre label...I've been thinking about his music for so long and that is the only way I can put it without insulting someone...seemingly. This man is one of the fucking greatest lyricist I've ever heard...and he knows how to write a tune to deliver his poetic brilliance...
