The tetrapanax is kind of hard to work with, though. You inhale the little spines as you touch it and they break off. Mucus like you've never experienced.

True Musa zebrina (blood banana) has much more dark coloration in the leaves and a relatively thin stalk. They are beautiful.

It's spelled Tetrapanax papyrifera. While hardy here, it can sucker vigorously. The selection 'Steroidal Giant' is the one to look for!
